September 2013

Sept 1-7 (Total: 5.25 hours)- This week I spent some time taking measurements from the fusing unit to make sure the lamp is strong enough to fuse the fibers within spec. I researched different lamps from Eiko and lenses from various sites which could increase the strength of the light.

Sept 8-14 (Total: 7 hours)- On Monday, I cleaned the fiber collars of the apoxy which held the ferrules in place. I also took voltage measurements of the thermistor because the LabView program needed to be modified. Wednesday I helped Ann Marie with making sure the thermistor was waterproof. I also started the drawings for the styrofoam cut-outs for when we take the fibers and microscope pieces down to JLab.
