How to Obtain a Cluster Account
- Talk to your research advisor
- Have your research advisor contact Alex Barnes (barnes@phys.uconn.edu) requesting an account
- You will first receive an e-mail containing your username
- Usernames will usually be composed of the first letter(s) of the first name followed by the full last name (John Graunt: jgraunt, Rainer Maria Rilke: rmrilke)
- A follow-up e-mail will be sent containing the rest of your login information
- It is strongly recommended that you change your password to a strong password
- Once you login through terminal using the username and password provided, type the command kpasswd
- Note: A password cannot be changed frequently. If you cannot change your password wait an hour and try again
- Follow the messages in the terminal window
