UConn Mentor Connection 2006 brought Connecticut high school students Jie Zhao and Sampat Nidadavolu (left to right in photo) to Storrs. They studied the use of hybrid photodiodes and silicon avalanche photodiode arrays as high-gain efficient counters of visible light with single-photon sensitivity. Jie has continued the project over the year 2006-2007. He has given several talks and a poster on his research, which is featured under a separate page on this wiki site.
