July 17, 2013 - The main brunt of my work so far this month has been devoted to making a proper procedure for how to paint the fibers. It began by testing different mixtures and figuring out the proper way to apply the paint detailed here. A more concise procedure is detailed below.

After measuring the proper 50/50 mixture of water and paint ensure that it is mixed well with no clumps of paint left in the vial. Hook up the air compressor to the gun, attach the vial with paint mixture and spray the mixture onto a sheet of paper until the water that remains on top of the mixture is gone. Clean the fiber by rubbing it with a rag that has been dampened with ethanol and if necessary, measure the fiber now. After the fiber has been cleaned hold the gun two to three inches away from the fiber and begin the spray of paint away from the fiber to avoid the initial splash of paint. Apply an even coat of paint on the fiber and set the fiber down to dry carefully to avoid smudging the new coat.
