		+	4/30: It seems Jim was busy today, so we did not put the ferrules back in the splicing unit yet. I am running out of things to do while the splicing unit is not ready.

		+	I polished sci-fi bundle 6 highly on both ends today. The results do not look as good as some previous bundles, but I am not sure yet whether I will do any more polishing.

		+	I made progress on the CITI training, and I swept labs 403 and 405. I could sweep in lab 402 if it takes more time to fix the splicing unit.

 /24: Today I finished polishing sci-fi bundle 5 and took the fibers out of the collar. When I start fusing again, I should use sci-fis from the other bundle that is out of the collar rather than bundle 5 because I used some fibers from the other bundle already. I don't want to mix up bundles. I want to know which sci-fi and light guide bundles are fused together.
-/26: I need to dry the metal pieces, scrub them with a wire brush, and wash them with soap and water, and put them on a paper towel under the fume hood. Later under the fume hood I can spray ethanol on them and in the screw holes. Then I can leave the pieces on another paper towel.

	I finished polishing sci-fi bundle 5 and went back to bundle 1 since I mistakenly decided to redo the polishing last month. Now I want to polish both ends highly, and I made progress toward that goal. I polished both ends with 1 micron grit today and polished one end with 0.3 micron grit. The next step for polishing bundle 1 is to polish the other end with 0.3 micron grit. The bundle is in the right position on the sci-fi guide to do that. 	I need to do some test fuses to find out where the crack in the ferrule is. The fibers are marked with masking tape on one side. That side will be facing up and towards me as I fuse. 	4/16: I was sanding a practice fiber this morning and with the microscope I noticed sanding marks extending beyond the wings on the "sci-fi" end as well as on the light guide end. Either my sanding this morning was going too far or I had made the marks on a previous occasion of sanding. 	Dr. Jones found out that there was not enough room on the computer drive that stores test data, so he moved some data off the drive today. He looked at the jumps in the data on the second test for bundle 404 and said that is why we take multiple tests. If one is off, we have others that give a better picture.
