June 10,11, and 12 – I was given Igor Senderovich’s PhD thesis, so I spent time reading through this and looking up any concepts that were unfamiliar to me (mainly quantum mechanical, QCD, and particle physics phenomena).

June 13 – Today I measured more fibers for the alcohol tests. The ends of these fibers were covered in epoxy in hopes of ceasing the degradation of the cladding on the fibers when exposed to the alcohol. I also talked to Jim about the project as a whole; I was shown a number of pictures of the various apparatus that are being used at J-Lab, and was given a rundown of the procedure for the entire system. I also spent more time reading Igor’s PhD thesis; I have a much better understanding of the GlueX project now!
